Appointments

To obtain an appointment, please telephone the surgery on the day that you wish to be seen. Please be prepared to attend on the morning that you contact the surgery. Should you wish to be seen during the evening surgery, due to work commitments, please also telephone the surgery in the morning. A late surgery is available on Monday evening until 8.00pm 

We are able to offer on-line appointments.  Please ask at reception for details.

If you need to make an appointment for a specific day, please inform the receptionist of this and you will be given a pre-bookable appointment. These appointments are for patients with commitments eg work and can be made up to four weeks in advance.

We also offer telephone consultations with all our doctors, for patients not requiring examination but for such things as test results, medication queries. Please ask the receptionist for details on how to arrange such a consultation.

When making an appointment, try and focus the consultation on a single problem. Attempting to cover a multitude of problems can lead to an unsatisfactory consultation for both the doctor and the patient. Therefore, if possible, make it one problem per consultation, please.

Chaperones

If you require an examination, you will be offered the choice of a chaperone being present.  It is your choice - please indicate to the doctor your wish.

Waiting Time in Practice

As part of our practice survey in 2012, we asked about the length of time patients spend waiting in the practice. In order to provide as many appointments as possible and meet government requirements, all our appointments with GPs are for 10 minutes unless requested otherwise by the GP. However, the nature of General practice means we don’t always know in advance what is coming through the door. This means that some patients will require longer than their allotted 10 minutes. We endeavour to provide a high standard of medical care to all our patients and as a result, from time to time our surgeries will run late. We apologise for this but hope that patients know that they will get the time they need from all our clinicians.

Home Visits

If you need to see a doctor and are too ill to come to the surgery, please telephone BEFORE 10.00am to request a home visit.

Please remember that the doctor can see at least 3 patients in surgery in the time it takes to do one home visit, so if at all possible please be prepared to come to the surgery.

We would appreciate it if you would contact the surgery if you are unable to keep your appointment, giving as much notice as possible.

Failing to attend for an appointment can result in many appointments being lost each week.  We regularly monitor our appointment attendence and patients failing to notify the surgery may be contacted.

Repeated failure to attend for an appointment without prior notice may result in removal from the Practice list.
